Section 179 of the IRS Tax Code allows a business to deduct, for the current tax year, the full purchase price of financed or leased equipment and off-the-shelf software that qualifies for the deduction.

2018 Deduction Limit = $1,000,000 (one million dollars)
This deduction is good on new and used equipment, as well as off-the-shelf software. To take the deduction for tax year 2018, the equipment must be financed/purchased and put into service between January 1, 2018 and the end of the day on December 31, 2018.

The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently released Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and Quality Payment Program (QPP) final rules for calendar year 2018 include new details about the imaging clinical decision support (CDS) mandate, also known as the Medicare Appropriate Use Criteria Program.
